Bintulu Urban Park Competition (In collaboration with Collaborative Designlab)

Bintulu Urban Park reimagines the city’s beachfront and river edge as a continuous, inclusive civic landscape that reconnects people with water. The Beachfront Facilities Development activates the coast through fluidly planned social zones—pavilions, play areas, food courts, and viewing terraces—drawing activity toward the sea. The Waterfront Upgrading Works along the Kemena River form a calmer urban promenade of elevated walkways, decks, and river-facing platforms that frame daily life and movement on water. Across both sites, climate-responsive design, durable materials, native planting, and universal accessibility underpin a resilient, community-oriented public realm that supports recreation, culture, tourism, and long-term environmental stewardship.
