Sambir Football Field Kuching

The Sambir Football Field is conceived as a porous, climate-responsive civic pavilion that prioritises environmental performance, material honesty, and social inclusivity. An elevated roof, open sides, and layered screens enable natural ventilation and diffuse equatorial sunlight, creating spectator comfort through passive means. The material strategy contrasts a grounded base of local brick with a lightweight steel roof and perforated panels, expressing a dialogue between solidity and openness. Inclusive circulation, ramps, and amenities ensure equitable access and shared views for all users. The project transcends its sporting function to become a communal platform where climate, culture, and collective identity converge.
